This has been a challenging year in many respects but we are proud of our community’s willingness to embrace change and find ways to continue to enjoy activities that we are passionate about. In keeping with that theme, we are changing the format of this years Annual Autism Awareness 5km walk/run, we are going virtual! As always, our goal is to raise funds and raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This has been a challenging year in many respects but at Lighthouse School we are proud of our community’s willingness to embrace change and find ways to continue to enjoy activities that we are passionate about. In keeping with that theme, we are changing the format of this years Annual Autism Awareness 5km walk/run, we are going virtual! As always, our goal is to raise funds for the students of Lighthouse School in-school needs and raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This year on October 9, 2020 the students of Lighthouse School will participate in the annual walk by wearing their ASD Shirts or a black t-shirt with rainbow colored accessories and a donation of $2 to walk around the Lighthouse School field in our class bubbles. We invite all schools to participate on October 9, 2020 to show your support of our campaign. Alternatively, classes could complete the walk during their Physical Education time. We look forward to seeing photos of your students participating on social media @lighthouseschoolcayman #LHSASDWALK2020

For persons in the community we invite you to wear your shirts on October 9, 2020 and post pictures to social media to show our students your support. You can also visit our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram to see a 5km route to complete!

Shirts are on sale at Lighthouse School 7.30am-3pm on weekdays and at Camana Bay on Wednesdays between 11.30-3pm (16th, 23rd and 30th September). Adult t-shirts and running vests are $20 and kids’ t-shirts are $10. You will receive a raffle ticket with the purchase of your shirt and we will be drawing tickets for prizes on the day of the walk. The winning tickets will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages and you will have 48 hours to contact the school for your prize.

Our social media pages will also be highlighting information about Autism Spectrum Disorder, including a video to spread awareness throughout the Cayman Islands.

Thank you for supporting our students and helping us raise awareness.
