The South Sound Stride: A 5k Walk / Run for adults and kids to raise money for First Baptist Christian School.

Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 6:30 a.m.

Course: The race will start and finish at First Baptist Christian School. The course is Old Crewe Road to South Sound. Right on South Sound Road to the Rugby Club. Turn around at the rugby club and return to F.B.C.S.

Registration:

  • Online at www.caymanactive.com/registrations until end of day April 29th or via email (see below) / at FCBS office until race day. 
  • $15 Early-Bird Rate for Students (18 years of age and under) or by Sponsorship Form (FBCS students). $20 if making payment from April 30th to May 2nd.
  • $20 Early-Bird Adult Rate. $25 if making payment from April 30th to May 2nd.

Start Time:

  • 6:30 am – Runners and walkers (Runners out front) - meet on bricks near playground / rear parking lot.
  • 7:30 am - Pee Wee Fun Run (5 years and under)

Check In Options:

  • April 30 - 3:30pm to 6pm at First Baptist Christian School
  • May 1 - 9am to 5pm at First Baptist Christian School
  • May 2 - 5:45am to 6:30am at First Baptist Christian School

Awards:

Trophies for first place overall male and female. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for both male and female in each of the following divisions: 6-10 yrs., 11-15yrs, 16-19yrs, 20-29yrs, 30-39yrs, 40-49yrs, 50-59yrs, 60+

Amenities:

5K participants will receive a t-shirt while supplies last, race bag, raffle ticket. Children 10 years and under will receive a t-shirt while supplies last, participation medal, race bag, and raffle ticket.

The DG5K in Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman is postponed given the temporary ban on public gatherings. New information will be provided as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your support and understanding.

The DG’s 5K Challenge is an annual walk/run event led by Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson, bringing together civil servants, private sector employees and members of the general public in a fitness and fundraising challenge. This is part of the Deputy Governor’s vision to have a healthier, more active and more socially engaged civil service, while benefitting charitable organisations and initiatives in the Cayman Islands.

The 2020 dates are:

The 2020 charities are the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, the MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands, and the Alzheimer's and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands.

Registration is CI $25 for adults age 18 and over on event day, and $10 for children.

All registration is online via CaymanActive. Online registration will close prior to each event:

  • Cayman Brac - online closes 4th April 2020, 6pm
  • Little Cayman - online closes 18th April 2020, 6pm
  • Grand Cayman - online closes 24th April 2020, 6pm

Each DG5K event is BYOB - please Bring Your Own water Bottle. There will be water available along the course to refill your bottle as needed.

The 5K event in Grand Cayman is a timed event. All registration must take place by 24 April 2020 in order to be allocated a race bib with your assigned number and embedded timing chip. Race bibs must be worn on the front of the shirt (not on the back, shorts or shoes please.)

Online payment is encouraged. Cash payments can be made at the Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Ave., main lobby on April 22, 23 and 24 between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Kindly note we cannot accept debit/credit cards in person, however a Cayman National Bank ATM is available in the main lobby if required.

Shirt and race number collection is at the Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Ave., main lobby on April 22, 23 and 24 between 9:00am - 6:00pm. Items must be collected BEFORE race day.

The 2020 CITA Duathlon takes place on Sunday 19th April with a 6:30am start time.


Start and finish in the Cayman Islands Yacht Club car park, Governors Creek (SMB area).


Organised by the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association, this duathlon is a 2 mile run followed by a 12 mile cycle and then another 2 mile run. Do the whole thing, or enter as part of a 2 or 3 person team.

We regret to announce that we will be postponing our 2020 Century Charity Ride that was scheduled for April 5th. We will be in touch with a new date in due course and look forward to seeing you then.


Join us on April 5th 2020 for a charity ride across Cayman as you complete 100 miles yourself or as part of a team, followed by a pasta brunch by Ristorante Pappagallo!

This annual event takes 80-100 riders around the island to the tune of 100 miles, with a pasta brunch at Ristorante Pappagallo, the starting and finishing point of the route.


If 100 mile route can be taken on solo, or you can enter as part of a team to share the miles. There's no limit to your team size. You can, for example, have 5 riders doing 20 miles each.


“Our annual Century ride is always a powerful demonstration of our community rallying together to combat hunger in Cayman’s schools, with riding enthusiasts of all levels coming out in to support our cause,” says Daniel Cummings, a director of Feed Our Future. “We sincerely appreciate the support of the sponsors, volunteers and riders who contribute to this event’s success and we look forward to another successful ride!”


There will be marked refreshment stops along the way, along with mapped out restrooms; always important. The stops at Frank Sound (on the way out and back) and Rum Point will be stocked with fruit, Gatorade, water, energy bars and gels.


The fun begins at 5am and ends at noon, when all participants can tuck into a well-earned meal, knowing that they have raised money for a great cause.

McGrath Tonner Tropical Relay Challenge 5x1 mile will be postponed until the public gathering ban has been lifted by the CIG.  


 


 


Awards will be given to the Top 3 in the Open Division, Female Division and Corporate Division; runners with the Top 3 FASTEST Male and Female times will also receive a trophy! We also have the Best Represented Team award which goes to the group with the most amount of teams entered! 


You can register online or on the day 5:30am - 6:15am at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. Entry fee is CI $50 per team.


This year we will be running on the TRACK!!!

Sign up for the Grace Glow Walk/Run. It’s different and definitely very interesting. Dress up with as much glow as you like, mix in a bit of neon, add some blinking lights and go for a walk or run under the cool of the Cayman night skies. Then when you get back from your little walk or jog or full on run then jam to some tunes with live DJ Music. 

 

Date is Saturday, March 28th, 2020, start is at 5:30pm (in the evening). Please come at 5pm to sign in. We will walk/run on the beach, starting at Seven Mile Public Beach, go to Ritz Carlton and back.

 

Participation is only $25 per person

Turn up wearing a Grace Christian Academy shirt from one of our past events/activities and pay a reduced rate of $15/adult or $10/child.

Free Entry & a FREE t-shirt when you Get total pledges of $50 or more.

Participants each receive an assortment of Glow Gear, water and a small snack.

 

We encourage participants to collect pledges - you get FREE entry & a FREE t-shirt.

Also, prizes will be awarded for the highest value of collected pledges. For every $50 collected, the participant’s name will be entered in a SPECIAL PRIZE draw. Please turn in your pledge forms and monies collected before the walk to be eligible to win.

 

By using the Cayman Active online registration and my participation in this walk/run, I HEREBY AGREE on behalf of myself, any child of mine, and any minor person over whom I have care or guardianship that I have assumed all risks and have waived all rights of action or any claims that I or any of the aforementioned persons might have against Grace Christian Academy PTA from any and all liability howsoever caused resulting from any damage, claim or cost suffered or incurred by me or any of the aforementioned persons by undertaking this walk, including without limitation any injuries, dehydration, fatigue or other physical discomforts.

 

I further understand that there are no entry refunds, exchanges, transfers or rollovers, and that the event may be cancelled due to any of the following reasons, among others, including weather conditions, natural disasters, or threats to local and/or national security.

 

Once you have registered online please drop off payment at the Grace school Office in West Bay. We will make every effort to provide you with the size t-shirt requested. T-shirt sizing priority will be allocated on a first come basis.

 

All funds raised from this event will be used towards GCA science lab upgrades and improvements.
