In 1970, the International College of the Cayman Islands was founded as an institution of higher learning because of the suggestion of Bodden Town educator, Ms. Floris McCoy McField, the vision of Dr. J. Hugh Cummings along with his wife, Dr. Elsa, and the support of American Friends and Caymanian entrepreneurs, as an institution of lifelong learning.

Dr. Cummings created a scholarship fund because he wanted to ensure that all individuals would be afforded the opportunity to further their education.

In January 2000, Dr. Cummings passed away. In his memory we hold the annual Dr. J. Hugh Cummings’ Memorial Walk to raise scholarship funds.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions, we are unable to hold the walk this year. This is disappointing as this year marks ICCI’s 50th Anniversary and our students need support now more than ever. Students have lost their jobs, suffered pay cuts and some have even had to change careers due to industry collapse in this crisis.

In the spirit of the commitment made by Dr. J. Hugh Cummings those 50 years ago, we want to continue to make education accessible and hope that you will join us in our $50 for 50 challenge.

Although we are apart right now, united we are stronger. Please join us in keeping Dr. Cummings vision and legacy alive by helping ICCI provide quality education for another 50 years!
