The Cayman Islands is an idyllic location for open water swimming. The pristine sandy white beaches, crystal clear water, exotic tropical fish and flat calm seas offer some of the world’s best conditions for longer swimming distances. The team at the Flowers One Mile Sea Swim are excited to offer distance swimmers a new and challenging addition to the Flowers Swimming calendar. This year we will be introducing the first ever Flowers international 3k and 10k events.

The World’s most scenic 3k and 10k will take place on Monday, June 15th, 2020 following the Flowers One Mile Sea Swim on Saturday, June 13th, 2020. Local and visiting swimming aficionados are encouraged to make it a swimming weekend by participating on Saturday in the mile swim and then on Monday in the 3k or 10k events. These new events follow in the Flowers tradition, guaranteeing 1 in 7 random prize odds. Great prizes include, trips to Toronto, New York and all Cayman Airways destinations. Other random prizes include gym membership from Anytime Fitness, Electronic devices from Flow and lots of other exciting prizes – the full list will be available shortly.

Trophies will be awarded to male and female 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall winners and age group certificates for all age groups winners.

The overall male and female winners for the 3k and 10k will receive a free round trip ticket from North America to the 2021 Flowers Sea Swim, along with one week hotel accommodation and rent a car. Each finisher completing within the cut off times will receive a medal and goodie bag.

The Cayman Islands, located in the beautiful Caribbean Sea with crystal clear waters, white sands and warm weather all year, is the perfect location for outdoor water sports. Over two decades ago, against such an ideal backdrop, the tradition of the Flowers One Mile Sea Swim began.

As the event swims into its 28th year on June 13th, 2020, we invite you to participate in what has come to be considered a must-do event for open water aficionados and has been named one of the World’s Top 10 Open Water Swims.

Who: Morritts Tortuga Club and Stingray Swim Club
What: Proudly present the Morritts Tortuga Club Mike Lockwood Meet
Where: Lion’s Aquatic Centre, 60 Olympic Way, Grand Cayman
When:Friday 15 November 5:45pm, Saturday 16 November 8:15am, Sunday 17 November 8:15am.

Every year Stingray Swim Club honours the memory of Mike Lockwood at the Mike Lockwood Memorial. Mike was a member of the Lions Club and a driving force behind one of the club’s hallmark projects – the Lions Aquatic Center – which has been home to Stingray Swim Club since its inception.

Mike was also the visionaray behind Pirates Week and initially, this meet took place during Pirates Week.

Recent changes in the Pirates Week calendar mean that the meet takes place after the pirate festivities have concluded, but its continued proximity allow us to combine Mike’s two passions – youth swimming and pirates week as we remember all that he has done for the Cayman Islands.

Meet Directors are Marz West and Lynne Walton, and Media Contact is Kathy Jackson – skyjackswim@gmail.com
