The DG’s 5K Challenge is an annual walk/run event led by Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson, bringing together civil servants, private sector employees and members of the general public in a fitness and fundraising challenge. This is part of the Deputy Governor’s vision to have a healthier, more active and more socially engaged civil service, while benefitting charitable organisations and initiatives in the Cayman Islands.

This year the Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge celebrates its 6th anniversary. With a focus on stepping up to the mantle to support the most vulnerable and reduce stigma, the beneficiaries this year will be: the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC), the Special Needs Foundation Cayman (SNFC) and the Alex Panton Foundation.

 The 2019 dates are:

  • Sunday September 15th in Cayman Brac
  • Sunday September 29th in Grand Cayman - Route Map

There will be no DG's 5k Challenge on Little Cayman this year.

We're delighted to announce the 7th Annual BIG SHAVE will take place on Friday 20th September, at Cricket Square. Please save the date as we unite to conquer childhood cancer.

Thanks to you and the Cayman community, over the past 6 years we’ve raised over US $2 million for St Baldrick’s to fund the most promising childhood cancer research worldwide. Hannah’s Heroes have funded 9 separate research grants at some of the most prestigious research institutes across the US, where researchers are working on life changing treatments and cures.

In the last 40 years, only 5 chemo/gene therapy drugs have been approved by the FDA specifically for childhood cancer, compared to hundreds of drugs approved for adult cancers. What's more, nearly all of the chemo drugs still used on children were developed in the 1970s.

You can get involved in several ways.

  • REGISTER NOW to get shaved;
  • ORGANISE a dress down day or a bake sale at work;
  • DONATE, if shaving's not for you - every dollar makes a difference.

Do all this and find out more at www.stbaldricks.org/events/hannahsheroes

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing support.

Gaylene (Hannah’s Mum) & the Volunteer Team
