Spring has sprung! April is upon us and it's a perfect time to jump into Yoga and Meditation. There are classes morning and evening, classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced, classes for pregnancy and classes for concentration and stress relief. There are classes Monday through Saturday. There is Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Development classes.  What ever you are looking for ... it is there.  I look forward to seeing you in class.

We all do long for change, to be different, to be healthier or happier than we are. So what stops us from changing? It can appear relatively simple to make changes in the world, while making changes in our own lives can seem far more daunting, almost impossible. It takes alot of courage and heart to move from a familiar and known place to one that is different - we may even be asking ourselves to step out of our comfort zone, to look at our misunderstood ego, and have compassion.

To start on a path of wellness and vitality, we need to be willing to become aware of old patterns, preconcieved ideas and habits and then to take a step towards dissolving them. This doesn't require high doses of willpower or effort - in fact, trying too hard to change tends to create a lot of resistance that can dampen our enthusiasm and deplete our energy even further. It's usually much more effective to focus on practices that enhance our awareness and body-mind dialogue. Yes, Yoga is just that. It is a work-in rather than a work-out. It is being gentle with yourself to bring your best Self forward.

Take time ... Breathe ... Unwind ... Let go ...
Yoga is not what we think it is. Yoga is a returning to our true essense. Asana, yoga postures, are the vehicle to that return.  In our classical Hatha yoga classes we take time to reacquait ourselves with our Selves by working to create a relatively strong, relatively flexible, relatively balanced body.  Yoga is about harmony with ourselves and with the world around us.  It is not about tieing ourselves up in pretzel positions or having a buff body - it IS about training ourselves in precision, gentleness and letting go of preconceived ideas of who we are and what Yoga is.
 
 
Meditation is the art of gettng to know our restless mind and opening the door to awareness. Meditation helps bring us peace of mind, clarity of thought, reductin of sterss, and a more positive outlook on life.  It can also help improve an individuals general physical, mental and spritiual well being.  When our minds are calm, our body relaxes.  We begin our traditional Yoga Meditation classes with Yoga breathing practices that help us return to a calm yet dynamic state of being. As we gain the calmness, our senses our naturally drawn inward and be begin the process of becoming concentrated and absorbed.

Traditional Hatha Yoga:
In our traditional Hatha Yoga classes we unite Body, MInd and Sould by using breath, physical movements and postures, to draw our attention inwards and begin to quiet the active mind, creat ore flexibility in both our mind and body, and to strengthen all levels of being.  Each class begins with a yoga breath practice, followed by an hour of postures with an intention, and ending with a guided deep relaxation.  Levels are indicated on individual classes
 
Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior:
This is a challenging guided vinyasa class where the asanas are linked with breath and intentin to elevate spirit, body and mind.  It is suitalbe for those who have limited time to devote to a yoga class but are looing to establish a regular practice that transforms, invigorates and energized, whilst at the same time grouding and leading the student inward on an exploratin of the deeper spiritual aspects of the self.
 
Jivamukti Open Class:
Whether you are a beginner, deciphering the difference between different postures or an advanced yoga, the Open class encompasses all levels at Jivamukti.  You work at your own pace, following the teacher's constant guidance.
 
Vinyasa Flow Yoga:
Vinyasa means to link together.  On the mat, this practice links breath with movement and intention, flowing from one posture to the next.  Off the mat, we are able to flow through changing and challenging situations with awareness and stay true to our intentions.  This practice prepares us to be able to moe forward in our own lives and direct our energy in a positive way regardless of external circumstances.  This class is suitable for all levels and will break down the elements of a Vinyasa practice in order for you to learn to flow consciously both on the mat and live mindfully off it.
 
Yoga Meditation:
In this basic Meditation class we will be working with breath awareness, pranayama, and concentration to come into stillness and deeper states of awareness.  When we meditate we leave behind the idea of the perfect meditator and any preconceived ideas of results.  We train in precision, gentleness, awareness, and letting go.  Because we see our thoughts and emotion with compassion, we stop struggling against ourselves.  Is this way, the wisdom of our own true nature becomes availabe to each of us.
 
Yoga Nidra Meditation:
Yoga nidra or "yoga sleep" is an ancient, guided deep relaxation technique.  In this class, you will not only enjoy the complete physical, minetal and emotional relaxation but also get to explore the tremendous powers hidden in the deeper layers of subconscious and unconscious mind.  In "Yoga Nidra" you learn how to access these powerful forces to gain knowledge, cure deseases, increase creativilyt, and to realize your true self.
