Try This Tri
The 2012 Try-This-Tri will be held on the Queen's Public Holiday, Monday June 18th. More details will be added here when they are available.
2011: The 2011 Try-This-Tri, sponsored by Solomon Harris - Attorneys at Law, was a great success. This third annual event, held on June 13th saw 118 participants, spread amongst individual and team efforts.
Johan Bjuro and Gill Comins were first male and female to complete the Sprint distance - and Brandon Williams and Joan Link in the Supersprint distance.
The day had something for everyone. The adult Sprint triathlon had people up early with a 6:30am start in the beautiful Camana Bay pool. At 8am the Super Sprint triathlon had a mixed field - from ages under 8 to adults. The signature Kids Tri, with 90 registrants began on time at 9:30am. The grand finale was the Tykes Dash, in which kids 4 and younger ran across the soccer pitch to great encouragement and smiles.
Sophia Harris, managing partner of Solomon Harris, and Paul Scrivener and Laura Hatfield, also partners of the law firm, presented the medals to finishers of the Super Sprint and Kids Tri. Mrs. Harris commented,
"I was very impressed with the professionalism of the athletes, especially the juniors in the Super Sprint and the Kids Tri. This is definitely a wholesome family event and Solomon Harris is happy to support the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association in activities that promote family fitness in Cayman."
After their accomplishments, athletes enjoyed refreshments from donors Kirks, Fosters, Treats, Flowers Bottled Water, and Camana Bay. The day closed with donated random prizes for the kids and volunteers from Dolphin Discovery, the Turtle Farm, Red Sail Sports, Captain Marvin's, Nautilus, Books & Books, Atlantic Kids, Little Darlings, Animal House, Frosted Robin Cupcakes, Haagen Dazs, Dairy Queen, Burger King, Hollywood Theatres, Cayman Taffy, Bliss, and Le Visage.
Race Director Dawn Kirton and her Assistant Brent Buckner give special thanks to Solomon Harris, Camana Bay, the generous donors, and the wonderful crew of volunteers. The free event gratefully accepted donations from adults in support of Solomon Harris' selected charities.

If you have a swim suit, a bike and a pair of running shoes, you can do this race!! This family-friendly triathlon is unique in Cayman. It will include a swim in the beautiful Camana Bay Pool – a great start for those of you who may be shy about open water.
After pool laps, athletes will exit to the transition area in the parking lot, and then crank the bike leg and finish with the run course. Adult bikers in the Sprint event will proceed from Camana Bay property, doing loops northward on the by-pass and back on West Bay Road, followed by a run through Camana Bay and the Paseo and its lovely shops. Kids, 17 and under, will race entirely on Camana Bay property, thus contributing to a safe and scenic race for all. Teams are welcome.
Bring your family. Form a team. Draw prizes and food are featured for everyone. Kids’ events are free. Adults are welcome to make donations in support of our sponsor, Solomon Harris’ charities. JUST COME OUT AND TRY THIS TRI!!!
