The Cayman Islands Marathon

The Cayman Islands Marathon is run every year in early December. The 2009 Cayman Islands Marathon took place on 6th December 2009. It is a looped course wich takes participants along the waterfront of George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, into the residential area of South Sound which boasts multi-million dollar homes and dazzling views of the ocean and then into the financial district and along the waterfront once again.

In the full distance event, Steve Speirs took overall victory with a time of 2hrs 59minutes and 5 seconds. Beth Schreader was second with a time of 3hrs 8minutes and 24 seconds improving on her 2008 time (3:12:54).

In the half-marathon event, Marius Acker was first home with a time of 1hr 18minutes. Julie-Anne Pearson was first lady home with a time of 1hr 33minutes 32seconds.

The 2008 Cayman Islands Marathon

Scott Brittain confirmed his status as Cayman's fastest runner by smashing his own Cayman Islands Marathon record on Sunday 7th December. His time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 33 seconds was almost 3 minutes faster than the run he did last year.
