"What we're trying to do is encourage people to exercise and get fit, help people achieve their exercise goals and fulfil their potential. There are so many people that want to start running or restart running or continue running and just need a helpful little nudge in the right direction. There are so many really good runners stuck in the gym on the treadmill who never run outside and never participate in any of the organised events. There are so many events and exercise opportunities on the island and we just want to introduce people to the idea of participating, dismiss all their doubts, give them the confidence to take part and let them experience the thrill and enjoyment of competing and completing that we love so much. WNRC is like an appointment, we're far less likely to miss our run if we know all our mates will be running, same time same place every week.
Apart from that we just like to meet up for a chat and jog around a bit. All are welcome.
We have a five mile loop north from the gym up the bypass and back down West Bay Road, there is the opportunity to add extra routes into Snug Harbour or Safe Haven or shorten the route by cutting through on any of the connecting roads. The faster guys go round in about 40mins and some others of us take up to an hour, its just nice to have people to run with once a week."
