Jeffrey Webb was returned unopposed to the position of President of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) last Saturday at the Annual General Meeting held at the Marriot Hotel.
Paul Macey was also returned unopposed to the position of Deputy General Secretary and Peter Campbell was elected to fill the vacant post of 2nd Vice President following Anthony Ramoon’s decision not to stand for re-election.
Mr. Webb thanked Mr. Ramoon for his contributions to football in the Cayman Islands as a long standing committee member and noted that it was Mr. Ramoon’s intent to stay involved with CIFA as a member of the Youth Committee.
“Following last weekend's Annual General Meeting, I would like to express my gratitude at the confidence you have shown in myself and my colleagues on the CIFA Executive Committee through re-electing us to serve for another four years unopposed. On behalf of myself, Deputy General Secretary Paul Macey and incoming Second Vice President Peter Campbell, I thank you for your trust, and pledge that we will do our utmost to continue the recent developments seen in football on our Islands, and build on the huge success seen over the past eighteen months in particular.”
“We remain committed to seeing the Cayman Centre for Excellence come into fruition, and to building a strong and sustainable foundation for future generations of footballers in the Cayman Islands,” Webb stated.
Mr. Webb also noted that following the recent opening of the Center of Excellence by the FIFA President Mr. Sepp Blatter the Association had received messages of goodwill and support from fifty four countries across the globe proving that our presence on the world football map was now well and truly established.

At the meeting Mr. Webb announced a new partnership with the local distributors of Budweiser. The company has agreed to come on board as a partner of the Cayman Islands Football Association for a period of three years.
Budweiser joins Digicel and Advance Chevrolet as being official sponsors of the Cayman Islands Football Association.
Budweiser is one of FIFA’s official worldwide partners for the 2010 World Cup. Their partnership with CIFA will offer a series of prizes and giveaways leading up to the World Cup Finals next year including competitions with a chance to win tickets for World Cup matches.
After signing the contract with President Webb, Frank Roulstone Cayman Distributors Budweiser’s Sales and Marketing Manager in a brief address to the CIFA members said,
“The World Cup is the pre-eminent global sporting event. Anheuser-Busch is the Official Sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup in South Africa. As distributors of Anheuser-Busch products in the Cayman Islands, Cayman Distributors is excited to partner with CIFA to help fulfill its mission: "make the game better and take it to the World".
Webb in his response welcomed the new partners and had this to say, “CIFA welcomes Budweiser on board in this crucial time. Global recession is prominent at this time and it’s with this reality that we welcome on board our new international partner as they join us in our efforts to improve football activities in the Cayman Islands. On behalf of CIFA I can assure you and your company that we appreciate your efforts and will do all that is possible to make good use of this partnership.”

Mr. Webb was also pleased to announce that Stingray FC, Women United and Seven Miles were given full membership at the meeting and were presented with their membership certificates.
In closing, Mr. Webb praised the efforts of the Cayman Football Family in general and commented that plans were already underway for the 2009-10 season as we look to build on the successes of the recently completed season.
