Cayman Islands Sunday Football League - Sponsored by HeinekenThe 2010/11 season of the Sunday Football League is fast approaching and it promises to be the biggest and best season to date. With new sponsor Heineken on board the teams are gearing up for the big kick off on October 3rd.

Last season it was Harry’s FC who were crowned champions and were presented with the league trophy after their 5-1 victory against Old Boys in April. This was a tangible reward for their efforts in the previous seven months, which entertained from the kick-off way back in October. Harry’s also won the CML Cup so they will be the team to beat when the new season commences.

With league games averaging over 4 goals per game there was not a lack of talking points, especially during the first half of the season with all teams taking points from each other and as a consequence the spot at the top of the table changed on numerous occasions. As sides struggled for consistency it wasn’t until the half way stage after Christmas that Harry’s FC, MC Devils and Old Boys were able to string together victories that made them league contenders.

Ultimately, it was Harry’s who took the honours, finishing nine points clear of second place Old Boys. Henry Mitchell of the Old Boys won the golden boot, with 20 league goals, a strike rate of one per game. Harry’s Ian Kenyon finished second with a creditable 14 goals.

A number of players who participated last season have now left Cayman which means some teams have gaps in their squads which they hope to fill with new players. If you are interested in precipitating in the league next season then the league organisers would like to hear from you ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Sponsored by HeinekenSeason 2009/10 drew to a close at the weekend with the completion of games from match day 20. League Champions Harry’s FC were presented with the League trophy after their 5-1 victory against Old Boys and it was a tangible reward for their efforts over the last seven months of the campaign, which has entertained right from the kick-off way back in October.

The league has averaged over 4 goals per game and there has not been a lack of talking points, but the season was characterised by a first half where all teams were taking points off the others and as a consequence the spot at the top of the table changed hands on numerous occasions. As sides struggled for consistency it wasn’t until the half way stage after Christmas that in particular Harry’s FC, MC Devils and Old Boys were able to string together a series of victories that propelled them to the top of the table and kept them there or there abouts.

In the end it was Harry’s who take the honours, finishing nine points clear at the top. A special mention to Henry Mitchell of the Old Boys who won the race for the golden boot, with 20 league goals, a strike rate of one goal per game, Mitchell finished a country mile ahead of his nearest challenger, Harry’s FC Ian Kenyon who finished second with a creditable 14 goals.
