Coors Light outlasts Maples - The Coors Light Chuggers scored early and often to open up an 11-3 lead and coasted to a 15-9 win over the Maples Sluggers in adult co-ed softball action last week.

Rob Harris went 4 for 4 with a home run and seven RBI to pace the Chuggers, who raised their record to 4-3 for the season.

“That’s seven, count them, seven ribeye steaks,” bragged Harris.

Chris Orlandini also homered and Neil Clements had four hits for Coors Light.

Pen “Forrest” Reed continued his hot hitting for the Chuggers, going 2 for 2 with a walk.  In the previous week’s game, the man called Gump went 3 for 3 with his first home run in more than a decade.

Chuggers coach Alan Markoff was most impressed with his team’s defensive efforts.

“After making 11 errors in last week’s game, to only make a couple of errors in this game was quite an improvement. If we can just see the ball, hit the ball and catch the ball, we’re going to win a lot of games.”

Home Gas escapes Jose’s

Home Gas got back on the winning track after their first loss, beating Jose’s Escape 25-20 in a defensive struggle. 

Escapee’s coach Al Lovinggood said he was proud of his team for playing the five-time defending champs tough even though his squad only had nine players.

“We had a good time. The Gassers were actually descent and having fun.”

Lovinggood said the bright spot of the game for Jose’s was a rare 1-3-1 double play.

“The ball was hit to me with one out and a runner on third,” he explained in excitement. “I charged in towards home, threw side arm to Courtney playing first and she ripped it right back to me at home to beat the runner going home.  It was awesome. I was awesome.”

Other games

In other action last week, the KPMG Bounty Hunters nipped Deloitte 12-11; the Global Baers got their first win of the season with a hard-fought 13-12 victory over the Dog House Glovernauts; Island Taste got by A.L. Thompon’s Hammers 13-8; KPMG A stunned KM Ltd. 19-7; and A.L. Thompson’s Drills and the RCGC Lions both won two games during the week.
