The 2012 Pirates Week 5k Run will be held on Friday 9th November, starting at Bayshore Mall on Harbour Drive, George Town. The event is part of Pirates Week, Cayman's National Festival which officially gets underway with people of all ages taking to the street to compete in this Pirates Week 5K Run.
Sponsored by Gatorade and the Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth, Sports, and Culture the 5K Run is organised by the Pirates Week Office in conjunction with the Cayman Islands Athletic Association. Beginning at 5pm on 9 November 2012, the race starts and finishes on Harbour Drive. For runners that would like to register early, download an application form or visit the Pirates Week Office from 9am-5pm on 7-8 November and on 9 November from 9am-3pm.
Runners can also register last minute between 3.45pm and 4:45pm on the day at the Bayshore Mall which is in the immediate vicinity of the start/finish area. The race course goes south from Harbour Drive on to South Church Street and to the turn around point. It then returns on the same route to the Harbour.
On a night that promises fantastic entertainment, the 5K race is great prelude event. Finishing on Harbour Drive ensures enthusiastic spectators cheering the runners to the finish. The awards will be presented before a welcoming crowd. Awards are presented to the first three runners in each age group and there are random prizes and event T-shirts.

2011 Pirates 5k: The 2011 Pirates Week 5k Run took place on Friday 11th November. Derek Larner was first overall male with a time of 18:09. Caroline Cahill was first overall female with a time of 21:10
