Omega 3 fatty acids are considered to be essential to human health as they cannot be manufactured by the body. Therefore we have to rely on our diet to obtain these healthy fats. Foods like fish, (such as Tuna, Salmon, Mackerel and Sardines), some marine sources (Algae), certain plants and nut oils all contain high amounts. Omega 3 fatty acids are crucial to healthy brain function and extensive research has proven that diets high in these essential fatty acids help reduce inflammation and help prevent heart disease, arthritis and cancer. In addition, it helps with dry skin, poor memory, fatigue, mood swings and poor circulation. However, the modern diet consists mainly of Omega 6 fatty acids (meats and vegetable oils) which, when there is an imbalance, helps contribute to arthritis, asthma, heart disease, cancer etc. Diets now contain a ratio of approximately 11-30 times more Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acids. A healthy diet should contain a ratio of 2-4 times more Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acids. Which ultimately means limiting red meat, and increasing whole grains, fish, fruit and vegetables, and olive oil. So basically, if you do not eat enough fish throughout the week, it is recommended you take Fish Oils. The research is in favour of this supplement, just think of how you are helping your body: 1. Lower Bad (LDL) Cholesterol 2. Lower Blood Pressure 3. Improve Skin 4. Help with concentration 5. Help prevent Heart Disease 6. Improve Diabetes 7. Help with healthy Weight (overweight individuals have poor blood sugar control, diabetes or high cholesterol... this helps reduce that with exercise) 8. Help with Osteoporis (EPA in fish oils help increase levels of calcium in the body) The list is endless.... Start protecting your heart today!
