The 2012 Brenda Tibbetts Lund Memorial 5K Run/Walk is an established annual event organised by the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
On Saturday October 20th 2012, West Bay Public Beach was abuzz with activities as over 650 runners and walkers came out to support and raise funds for breast cancer awareness and education. Now a firm fixture on the events calendar, the memorial run/walk is in its 15th year. Organized in memory of Brenda Tibbetts-Lund who lost her battle with breast cancer, this event seeks to raise funds to fight against breast cancer and to promote the importance of early detection as the best protection in this fight. The event also celebrates the survivors of breast cancer and all other types of cancer. A special ‘survivors’ tent’ was erected on the beach for survivors to interact with other survivors, family members and participants in the walk/run.
The 5K Run/Walk will begin at the Public Beach to Vista Del Mar returning back to the Public Beach. Race day registration begins at 5:30am, the walk at 6am and the run at 6:30am, followed by refreshments and prize drawing.
Come out to support the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens efforts to raise Breast Cancer Awareness in the Cayman Islands.
